Scalgo is a Danish software company that develops easy-to-use digital tools for designing sustainable living environments. The company is best known for its Scalgo Live platform, which helps experts analyze and manage the interactions between surface water and terrain using detailed and extensive data.
In search of a workspace and community
Scalgo operates in several countries, but until recently, it had no permanent workspace in Finland. For the company’s only employee in Finland, Pietu Pankkonen, the options were either to continue working remotely from home or to find a dedicated workspace and social environment.
Before joining VillageWorks at Suomitalo, Pietu tested a few different workspace solutions.
“Before coming to Suomitalo, I had tried out a couple of different workspaces for a few weeks. But when I arrived here, I knew almost instantly that this was the place I wanted to stay. It’s a beautiful building with stunning views and excellent transport connections.”

Coworking has proven to be a great fit for Pietu—not only for practical reasons but also because it makes work more meaningful. He now comes to the office almost every day.
“My work involves running webinars, workshops, and client meetings. Because of that, I need access to different kinds of spaces, such as quiet rooms, meeting rooms, and places to work with a screen. Technically, I could do all that at home too, but what’s missing there is the social community.”
The inspiring atmosphere of the building and its surroundings has also added to the experience.
“The biggest benefit I’ve gained here is inspiration. Coming to such a beautiful building and environment is a huge motivator in getting work done.”
Community Coordinator supports smooth office life
“Anni, the Community Coordinator at Suomitalo, has been a huge help. It basically means I don’t have to worry about daily practicalities. Whenever I have a question, I can just ask Anni, and she helps me out—even with simple things like how to use the printer.”
